An AI Persona substantially uses AI for appearance, voice or production. Its editorial value still depends on coherence and usefulness.

A synthetic character needs something to say.

Define continuity: what the character knows, does not know, likes and never claims to have experienced. A fictional narrator can tell an illustrative story, not provide a fake customer testimonial. Inconsistent voice or recurring details break identity faster than imperfect rendering. Keep a reference sheet and identify the fiction.

A continuity sheet can include preferred vocabulary, editorial positions and consistent visual details. Add subjects where the character does not offer expert judgment. Stability supports production while transparency supports reader understanding. The aim is coherent fiction, not an imaginary person presented as an actual customer. Review both image and script because a careful disclosure cannot repair contradictory claims inside the content itself.

Give the character a role, and keep its evidence honest.

A synthetic persona can be a narrator, a fictional character or a useful interface for explaining a topic. Trouble begins when those roles blur into invented testimony. A character can dramatise the frustration of an untidy calendar without claiming to be a real paying customer. A generated presenter can explain a documented workflow without pretending to have personally achieved an outcome. Make the role legible in the surrounding account and in the claims the character is allowed to make.

THE IDEA, UNPACKED

Three roles that should not be confused

  1. 01
    Narrator

Presents an explanation grounded in accessible information.

  2. 02
    Character

    Participates in clearly fictional storytelling.

  3. 03
    Witness

Claims personal experience and therefore needs a real basis.

Editorial model: a way to reason about the process, not measured platform results.

Build a character brief around editorial competence: what can it explain, what examples can it use, and which statements require a real source? Keep visual consistency as a production concern rather than the definition of credibility. Test a script as plain text before rendering the persona. If the script contains no useful observation, an impressive face will not repair it. Compare the character with other explanation formats when appropriate, using the same underlying information. The interesting question is whether the presentation helps this audience understand, not whether the technology looks expensive.

The limit. A realistic appearance is not evidence of expertise or product use.
